Clean Food Good Taste Award
Hill Tribe Restaurant is one of the few restaurants in Khao Lak that prides in having obtained the Clean Food Good Taste Award for 2010 and 2011.
Clean Food Good Taste Awards follow the Thai governmental food safety policy and are granted every year to carefully checked restaurants that maintain a high standard of cleanliness and food preparation.
Since 1989, Department of Health of the Ministry of Public Health together with Tourism Authority of Thailand have been working together on a project aiming at assuring the good sanitation of all restaurants in Thailand.
The main goal of the project is to reduce the risk of food poisoning and other diseases in restaurants and cafeterias as well as to promote clean and good sanitary food service.
The inspection is conducted according to strict criteria set by the Department of Health. If the place does not pass the inspection, improvement must be made as recommended by the local officers. 10 samples are drawn from food, water containers and utensils and restaurant chef’s health test is required.
To be awarded the "Clean Food Good Taste" logo 9 of 10 tests must fulfil the criterie. The inspection is repeated every two months. If the restaurant does not fulfil the requirements, the award and logo is revoked.
